naked: a writing workshop
for people with bodies.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 8th, 7.00-9.30 PM
WHERE: Seattle, WA. Register for location address.
WORKSHOP FEE: $60 includes the workshop, a packet of poems and prompts to use at home, a light dinner, and a small body-pampering gift.
RSVP: elaina@tumbleme.org by June 1st.
In this workshop, participants will ask: what is the story my body most wants me to tell? We are more than our bodies, and yet, there's poetry in the real flesh and bone of all of us. We are skin and muscle, fat and organs, blood and breath. We are all carried by our bodies, bound to them, responsible for their care-taking, and ultimately represented by them.
Held in an intimate setting, with a limited number of participants, the evening will explore the art of embodied writing. In this workshop, we will thank our bodies, inquire about them, rename/reframe, and read examples of other authors who’ve done the same. Finally, we will ask of our writing: what would it take to get truly naked (read: honest) on the page?
This event is open to all, regardless of writing experience (or lack there-of).
